Best Tacos in GR
You can exercise if you want to. Or you can just go straight to one of these incredible GR taco places.
Taqueria San Jose

Enjoy the drive-in style nature of this restaurant and settle in. Taqueria isn’t the fastest Mexican restaurant in GR, but it’s voted one of the best. The food is well priced and absolutely delicious. They have limited seating by way of outside picnic tables, and a few tables inside. If you’re lucky enough to sit inside, you just might get to catch up on a telenovela while you dine.

Be prepared for a wait at Donkey, but that’s because this place is adored by many. It is typically loud inside, so that may sway your seating preferences. You can put your name in and grab a drink across the street. They text you when your table is ready and you have 5 minutes to claim it! The tacos are unique and flavorful creations at around $4 per taco. There are many vegetarian options.

There are multiple Tacos El Cuñado locations across GR, but this one allegedly has more authentic options than any other. Each T.E.C. in GR is under different ownership, so although they share the same name, the food is not consistent across the board. Patrons rave about this spot as a favorite for it’s no nonsense menu that is as flavorful as it is fairly priced. It also has some of the most accommodating seating available. It’s recommended that you eat your food there for the best dining experience.

Incredible service, outstanding Mexican fare: La Huasteca is a Plainfield hole-in-the-wall you simply can’t pass up. The spicy mexican pork (adobada) is a patron favorite with the green sauce which adds even more heat. The house horchata is an equally excellent addition. They have a few booths inside and parking around back for a cozy restaurant experience that the Northwest side is thrilled to share with you.

Some call it a “GR Institution” and this is not what you would call authentic Mexican. Taco Boy is how GR does comfort Tex-Mex tacos. The wet burritos are a favorite among many. Their house-made salsa is incredible on anything and everything. There isn’t a ton of space for dining, though they do have a few tables both inside and outside.
