As the holiday season begins to sparkle across West Michigan, one event stands out as a magical destination for festive fun: the 2025 edition of the Christkindl Markt Grand Rapids. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit, soak in the atmosphere, and make the most of this winter wonderland.

🎄 What is the Christkindl Markt?

Inspired by the historic open-air Christmas markets of Germany and Austria, the Christkindl Markt Grand Rapids brings that tradition to downtown Grand Rapids: wooden vendor stalls, twinkling lights, seasonal foods and drinks, live entertainment, and a warm-hearted community vibe. It’s located adjacent to the Grand Rapids Downtown Market at 435 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

  • Plan your parking. There’s a lot on-site, but it fills up. There are downtown lots and the free DASH bus that serves the area. Parking

  • Use the beverage hall mug collection. If you buy the souvenir mug/stein, you may be able to get refills at a discount. (Traditional European market style).

  • Divide your visit. You could make multiple trips—maybe lunch one weekday, then dinner or a night browse another day.

  • Reserve special experiences ahead. If you want an Alpenglobe or curling sheet, book in advance as those are limited.

  • Be mindful of food/beverage costs. Some items like Glühwein mugs may include the mug deposit. Budget accordingly if you plan to indulge.

  • Explore the adjacent Downtown Market. Because it’s right next to the Christkindl Markt, you can combine your visit with indoor shopping, eateries, or holiday market finds.
