Downtown Market Bliss

Nicknamed “Furniture City,” Grand Rapids is the second-largest city in Michigan and the largest city in West Michigan. The beautiful metropolitan city we see today dotted with art from ArtPrize and that gorgeous Blue Bridge crossing the Grand River for commuters is quite a contrast from what it used to be.

Over the last few years, there has been vibrant growth downtown and in the surrounding areas. In neighborhoods like Creston, Eastown, Heritage Hill and the Westside we are seeing restaurants, coffeeshops, yoga studios, and breweries line every street corner and truthfully, we love it. The growth is transformative for both the economy and housing and we are excited for what’s next.

There are so many gems to highlight, but one of our favorite places to grace downtown is the Downtown Market. Located conveniently off of Ionia between McConnell and Logan, it is easily accessible from public transit. You could ride the Rapid to Ionia and McConnell, the BRT to Division and Wealthy, the Amtrak to Market and Wealthy, or there’s plenty of bike racks. Pay parking is available as well with free parking for the first 30 minutes if you want to pop in and out for a quick peek.

There are ample restaurants and local shops to satisfy every craving imaginable and get a taste for the local cuisine GR has to offer. If you’ve got guests in town and really want to wow them, or are new to the area yourself, this is absolutely the place to go. The Market offers cooking classes and events regularly, so make sure to check out their events calendar frequently for a fun night out.
