Giving Where We Live: RED Day 2025 at Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding

Each year on the second Thursday of May, Keller Williams associates across the globe put their real estate work on pause and step up for something bigger than business—community. It’s called RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize, and Donate, and in 2025, our Keller Williams Grand Rapids North family had the incredible honor of spending it at the Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding.

Nestled in the heart of Rockford, the Equest Center is more than just a stable. It’s a sanctuary for healing—where individuals with physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges connect with horses in life-changing ways. Their mission to improve quality of life through equine-assisted activities perfectly aligns with RED Day’s spirit of compassion, purpose, and service.

Rolling Up Our Sleeves

Our RED Day started early with a warm welcome from the Equest staff, who shared moving stories of the riders and families they serve. With a clear sense of purpose, our team got to work on a range of projects including:

• Barn cleanup and organization

• Landscaping the riding trails and sensory gardens

• Painting benches and exterior structures

• Building new equipment storage units

• Moving supplies/storage items into new permanent office building

Working side by side with our colleagues and community members, we saw how even small efforts—a shoveled trail, a fresh coat of paint, updated landscaping—can make a big difference in a rider’s experience.

Why It Matters

RED Day is more than a volunteer opportunity; it’s a reminder of why we’re here. It reconnects us to the core of our values: to give where we live. The Equest Center doesn’t just offer therapeutic riding—it offers joy, confidence, and a sense of belonging to people who often face invisible barriers.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of staff and clients as they visited during the day reminded us that community service isn’t just about what we give—it’s also about what we receive.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up another unforgettable RED Day, we carry the energy of this experience into everything we do. Whether we’re helping families buy homes or helping keep a therapy barn running smoothly, our goal is the same: to serve with heart.
