The Power Of Gratitude
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, November is a month when we reflect on all that we’re thankful for. It’s a time that brings us together reminiscing about cherished memories and being grateful for our family, friends, and blessings throughout the year. It’s also a time when we can pause to be grateful for life’s little pleasures, the giggle of a small child, a warm blanket by the fireplace on a chilly evening, or the wagging tail of our furry friends as we walk thru the door at the end of a hectic day.
If you’re needing a little inspiration to help you kick off this season of gratitude, below you’ll find a few ways to express your gratitude for the small things we can easily take for granted.
Spend Time With A Friend
Caught up in the day-to-day busyness of life we don’t take enough time to really connect with each other. It doesn’t have to be a major event, meet for lunch or coffee at a local cafe. No time to get together? Take 15 minutes to connect by phone or drop a handwritten note in the mail. Make time to show someone how much you appreciate them.
Post Gratitudes On Your Social Media
Make one post a day throughout the holiday season expressing something you’re grateful for. Challenge your friends and family to do the same. It can be as simple as being grateful for the twinkling lights of the holidays. We can all find something throughout our day that causes us to pause and enjoy the moment. You’ll be amazed at how good you feel when you’re focused on the small things that tend to pass us by.
Host A Virtual Thanksgiving Feast
Invite friends, family and co-workers to send you their favorite Thanksgiving recipes. This is a great way to share recipes and ask that they also include their favorite traditions. Gather all the recipes and put them together in a Word document to share back with the group. Include those favorite traditions to really personalize it.
Pay It Forward
Sharing with others and passing on our gratitude is the heart of this holiday season. Find a way to give back. It can be donating food at your local food bank to organizing a coat drive. Reach out to family and friends to collect winter gear. Your local shelters will definitely appreciate your efforts.
It’s easy to get caught up in our busy schedules, we’re all guilty of it. Take time this holiday season to slow down and take time to appreciate the small things and the people in your circles. It’s a simple way to create memories and add real value to the lives of those we hold dear.
